Common Questions

Industrial Auctioneer FAQ

What does an industrial machinery auctioneer do?

An industrial machinery auctioneer appraises a plant's equipment, recommends the sale method, catalogs and photographs every lot, markets the sale to buyers who run that equipment, conducts the bidding, settles the proceeds, and supervises removal. KD Auctions does all of this in-house, with licensed auctioneers on the block and two AMEA Certified Equipment Appraisers on staff.

What do industrial auctioneers charge?

Fees are tailored to the engagement and quoted upfront, before anything is signed. Most sellers pay nothing out of pocket: on a managed auction the costs are recovered from the sale proceeds, and a cash purchase is a direct offer with no fees.

How long does an industrial equipment auction take?

A managed auction runs 6 to 10 weeks from engagement to settlement. Our onsite teams dispatch anywhere in the United States and Canada within 48 to 72 hours. When the timeline is shorter than that, a cash purchase closes with an offer in 24 to 72 hours and funds typically 3 to 7 days after acceptance.

Do you provide appraisals for lenders, trustees, and courts?

Yes. Our AMEA Certified Equipment Appraisers, Tim Pfister, CEA, and Peter Lenstrohm, CEA, prepare USPAP-compliant appraisals in the form lenders, courts, and trustees expect, covering Fair Market Value, Orderly Liquidation Value, and Forced Liquidation Value. Because the same firm can then run the sale, the appraisal and the disposition come from one accountable source.
