Buyers & Sellers Guide

Everything you need to participate in or sell through KD Auctions, from finding a sale to final settlement.

Each auction may have unique terms. Always review the specific sale details before bidding or consigning.

How KD Auctions Work: Step by Step

01

Find an Auction

Browse current and upcoming auctions by industry, location, or asset type. Each sale includes detailed information, photos, and timing.

02

Review the Catalog

Evaluate available lots using descriptions, photos, and available documentation. Inspection opportunities are provided when applicable, see each auction for details.

03

Register to Bid

Registration is completed per auction. Follow the registration process on the listing to get approved. Each sale may have its own terms.

04

Place Your Bids

Bidding is conducted online. Many auctions use a soft-close format: bidding activity near closing time may extend the countdown to ensure fair participation.

05

Invoice & Payment

Winning bidders receive an invoice after close. Payment terms and accepted methods vary by sale and are outlined in each auction's details.

06

Removal of Assets

Buyers are responsible for coordinating pickup within the stated timeframe. Removal requirements and deadlines are provided in each auction.

Payment & Removal Terms

Payment due: Typically within 24 hours of auction close, unless stated otherwise in sale terms.

Buyer's premium: Varies by auction, always listed clearly on each sale page. Added to the hammer price.

Sales tax: Applied where required. Exemptions require valid documentation submitted before bidding.

Removal: Buyers arrange and pay for all removal, rigging, and shipping. Deadlines are per auction.

Riggers: Unless an item can be carried by hand, a rigger must be hired, no exceptions.

Financing: Equipment financing available, must be arranged before bidding.

Buyer FAQ

Do I need to register for each auction?

Yes. Registration is completed per auction, and each sale may have its own terms and requirements. By registering, you agree to that auction's specific Terms & Conditions.

How do I know what the Buyer's Premium is?

The buyer's premium varies by auction and is clearly listed on each sale page. It is added to the final hammer price to determine your total purchase amount (before applicable taxes and fees).

When is payment due?

Payment is typically due within 24 hours of auction close, unless otherwise stated in the specific sale terms.

What payment methods are accepted?

Accepted payment methods vary by auction. Please refer to the individual sale listing for complete payment details and instructions.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Sales tax is collected where required by state and local law. Buyers claiming an exemption must provide valid documentation acceptable in the state where the auction is conducted.

Can I inspect items before bidding?

Yes, when available. Inspection dates and details are listed on each auction page. All assets are sold as-is, where-is.

How does soft-close bidding work?

Can you help with shipping or recommend riggers?

While KD does not provide shipping or rigging services, we can often recommend third-party providers familiar with our auction sites.
