Machinery Liquidation Services
Industrial Machinery Liquidation:
Auctions, Cash Purchase, Consignment
Machinery liquidation is the sale of a company's industrial equipment, from a single CNC machine to a complete plant, converted to cash through a managed auction, a direct cash purchase, or consignment. KD Auctions has run hundreds of auctions since 1996 for owners, lenders, and trustees nationwide.
Four Ways to Liquidate Industrial Machinery
Every situation is different. We tell you honestly which option fits yours, and what each one means for your timeline and your recovery.
Managed Auction
We run the complete machinery liquidation auction: photography, cataloging, marketing to 500,000+ industry contacts, online bidding, and full settlement. Best for plant closures, complete facility liquidations, and estates.
Timeline: A managed auction runs 6 to 10 weeks
Cash Purchase
We make an offer and buy your equipment directly, no auction timeline. Best when speed and certainty matter more than maximum recovery: bankruptcy timelines, lease deadlines, urgent situations. If a direct purchase is not the right fit, we may recommend a managed sale instead.
Timeline: Offer in 24 to 72 hours, funds typically 3 to 7 days after acceptance, removal in 1 to 2 weeks
Consignment
We market and sell your equipment through our buyer network and the KD Machinery marketplace. You pay nothing until sold. Best for individual machines and smaller lots.
Timeline: Consignment into a scheduled sale runs 4 to 8 weeks
Advisory & Valuation
A USPAP-compliant appraisal from one of our AMEA Certified Equipment Appraisers, prepared in the form lenders, courts, and trustees expect. Fair Market Value, Orderly Liquidation Value, and Forced Liquidation Value, with a written recommendation on the best exit.
Timeline: Scoped and quoted upfront
How a Machinery Liquidation Works
Six steps, one firm. The same team that appraises your equipment markets it, sells it, settles it, and supervises the removal, so nothing falls between vendors.
Asset Review and Appraisal
We walk the floor or review your list remotely, identify every machine, and put a realistic number on it. If a lender, court, or trustee needs a formal figure, we prepare a USPAP-compliant appraisal at this stage.
Choose the Method
Auction, cash purchase, consignment, or a mix. We recommend the path that fits your timeline, your obligations, and the equipment itself, and we tell you honestly when a faster route will cost you recovery.
Marketing to 500,000+ Industry Contacts
Every lot is photographed, cataloged with specifications, and marketed in-house: direct email to our own 500,000+ industry contact list, Bidspotter, MachineTools.com, LinkedIn, Google PPC, trade press, and targeted outreach to known buyers of your specific brands.
The Sale
Online bidding with extended closing on high-value lots, so the last increment of competition lands on your best machines. Onsite inspection days let serious buyers verify condition before they bid.
Settlement
Buyers pay us, and you receive a full accounting of every lot from first bid to final check, with the documentation a bank, trustee, or auditor expects.
Removal and Rigging
We supervise the checkout window, coordinate riggers and haulers, and hand back a broom-swept floor on the date your lease or buyer requires.

Recent Engagement
Doosan Automated CNC Machine Shop, Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania precision machine shop closed after the owner's retirement, with more than 60 Doosan CNC assets on the floor: turning centers, machining centers, horizontal and vertical lathes, CMM and metrology equipment, and full tooling libraries. The owner had never liquidated a facility. The company's bank, which held a blanket lien, required a managed and fully documented disposition.
KD marketed the sale directly to known Doosan buyers, regional shops replacing aging equipment, and contract machining operations adding capacity, then ran the premium turning and machining centers as individual lots with extended bidding on the final day. Total recovery surpassed $5 million, well above pre-sale estimates. Buyers came from 14 states and two Canadian provinces, every machine was removed within the 30-day window, and full settlement documentation reached the bank within 10 business days of the close.

Common Questions
Machinery Liquidation FAQ
What is machinery liquidation?
Machinery liquidation is the sale of a company's industrial equipment, whether one machine or an entire plant, converted to cash through a managed auction, a direct cash purchase, or consignment. A liquidator appraises the assets, chooses the sale method, markets the equipment to buyers, runs the sale, settles the proceeds, and supervises removal.
How long does an industrial machinery liquidation take?
A managed auction runs 6 to 10 weeks from engagement to settlement. A cash purchase is faster: an offer in 24 to 72 hours, funds typically 3 to 7 days after acceptance, and removal in 1 to 2 weeks. Consignment into an already scheduled sale runs 4 to 8 weeks. Our onsite teams dispatch anywhere in the United States and Canada within 48 to 72 hours.
What does machinery liquidation cost?
Fees are tailored to the engagement and quoted upfront, before you sign anything. Most sellers pay nothing out of pocket: on a managed auction or consignment, our costs are recovered from the sale proceeds, and a cash purchase is a direct offer with no fees at all.
Do you buy industrial machinery outright?
Yes. When speed and certainty matter more than maximum recovery, we make a direct cash offer on individual machines, production lines, or an entire facility. If we believe an auction would return meaningfully more, we say so and recommend it instead.
Can you provide an appraisal my bank, trustee, or court will use?
Yes. Our AMEA Certified Equipment Appraisers, Tim Pfister, CEA, and Peter Lenstrohm, CEA, prepare USPAP-compliant appraisals in the form lenders, courts, and trustees expect, covering Fair Market Value, Orderly Liquidation Value, and Forced Liquidation Value. The same firm can then run the sale, which removes the coordination risk of separate appraisal and auction vendors.
Do you handle rigging, removal, and the clean-up?
Yes. We supervise the removal window, coordinate licensed riggers and haulers, verify that every lot leaves with the right buyer, and return the floor on the schedule your landlord or purchaser requires.
