How do you handle data sanitization for IT equipment?
Sellers are responsible for data sanitization prior to auction. We strongly recommend engaging a NIST 800-88 compliant data destruction vendor before equipment is cataloged. We can provide referrals to certified data sanitization providers. Buyers receive equipment with certificates of destruction where provided, which increases buyer confidence and sale prices.
Is there international demand for used data center equipment?
Yes, servers, storage, and networking equipment from North American data centers attract buyers from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. Buyers in markets building out cloud and colocation capacity find US-sourced enterprise hardware cost-effective at auction prices. Yes, complete data center decommissioning is a specialty. We coordinate cataloging, photography, data sanitization referrals, and rigger/logistics coordination for full floor decommissions.
